Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Colby College Women's Basketball team fell Thursday to Emmanuel College 72-46 in the finale of the Sunshine Shootout in Florida. The Mules move to 4-6 on the season.
The Saints built an early lead, pushing ahead of Colby with an 18-point first quarter and extending their lead to 33-21 at the half. The Mules fought to remain in striking distance, with double-digit scoring performances by a trio of first-years (
Chelsea Ibenegbu,
Gabrielle Hemenes, and
Lydia Mordarski), but Emmanuel kept the pressure on with strong third and fourth quarters, improving to 6-4 on the season.
Bray Hunter led Colby on the boards with nine rebounds.
Colby begins NESCAC play next week when they head to Trinity and Wesleyan for back-to-back conference matches.
