Waterville, Maine - The Mules celebrated their eight seniors Saturday with a NESCAC match against the Connecticut College Camels. The team played in front of a large and rowdy crowd on parents weekend as they fell to the Camels 2-0.
After thirty minutes of back and forth soccer Conn found the back of the net sliding a goal past Freshmen keeper
MK Marshall to take a 1-0 lead. The first half scoring stopped there though the Mules managed two shots both on target forcing the Conn keeper to stay active.
The Mules threatened throughout the second half but, Conn managed a second goal in the 64th minute to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The Mules continued to attack throughout the second half putting up five shots, three on target but could not find the back of the net.
All seven of the Mules shots came from different players and three seniors played an important role in the match.
Maddie Fisher and
Sophie Webb started for Colby and
Kerrie Verbeek came off the bench.
With the loss the Mules move to 4-8 on the season. They will seek to bounce back against rivals Bowdoin with a Wednesday night conference matchup on the road before, trying to defend their perfect non-conference record on Saturday when they host the University of Maine Fort Kent.
