Outdoor Facility Highlight 9: Campbell Trail System, Quarry Road Trails

Waterville, MAINE - Throughout the Second Semester, Colby Athletics will be running a series on our outdoor venues.  Each Field/stadium/venue offers a multitude of specific advantages to maximize the capacity of our varsity programs, and it's time for you to get to know them.

VOLUME 9 - CAMPBELL Trail System, Quarry Road Trails

Colby's men's and women's cross country teams benefit from a trail system that offer varied training and competition opportunities.

The Campbell Trails, built in 1980, meander 8.5 miles through pristine wooded areas of campus and are used for both competition and recreational cross-country running, as well as skiing.

The trails begin at the Hill Family Guest House near the Alfond-Wales Tennis Courts.

Quarry Rd Maine States 2019Quarry Road Trails, located a mile from campus along Messalonksee Stream,  is a picturesque running venue that serves as both a training and competition site.

All 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) of Quarry Road's Nordic ski trails, in addition to four miles of single-track hiking and biking trails, are available for cross country running. With stunning views of Colby's Miller Library in certain spots, Quarry Road offers a nice mix of gravel terrain, rolling hills, and open meadow.
