Colby Wins Elm City Challenge

Waterville, Maine - The Mules opened their season with a home meet against the University of Maine Farmington (UMF) and Thomas College. It was a historical first meet in the new facility and first indoor meet since the start of COVID-19. Both men's and women's teams successfully defended Mayflower Hill and secured victories over their opponents. The men's team score was 118 points (followed by UMF with 104 points and Thomas with 94 points) while the women racked up a total of 146 (followed by UMF with 70 points and Thomas with 59 points).

The women's side had several Division III New England qualifiers and top 10 performances in school history. Some notable performances come from Sadé Greenidge in the 60m with a blazing time of 7.85. That time puts Greenidge 3rd overall in New England this week. Other event winners included Lottie Franck in the 400 (61.30), she is also 3rd overall in New England at the moment. In the 600, Charlotte Freniere and Kristina Pizzi hold the only 2 qualifying Division III New England times at 1:43.30 and 1:43.41, respectively. The men's team also had a strong showing of Division III New England qualifiers. JT Munz and Ren Zanze in the 600, with times of 1:23.71 and 1:25.55, respectively. Tyler Morris, who just finished an amazing XC season with a 7th place national finish at the NCAA Division III XC Championships, broke the school record in the 5k with a 14:23.47 effort. Teammate Ewan Frick joins him in also qualifying for Division II New Englands in the 5k with a 15:21.73 run. On the jumps side, first-year Kevin Yan qualified in the triple jump with a 13.00m jump.
