Waterville, MAINE- Colby hosted the Babson Beavers yesterday, November 23rd, in their fifth game of the season. The Mules fell behind early, but were then able to battle back and win the game 78-74, improving to 5-1 in the process.
The game started close, tied 15-15 after seven minutes of play. However, by the end of the first half Babson was able to secure a four point lead, winning 39-34. The Beavers then pushed further ahead in the beginning of the second half, increasing their advantage to 14, 54-40. Thanks to a flurry of scoring from
Noah Tyson, the lead didn't last long, dropping to just a two point deficit with 5:08 remaining. Tyson's performance, and an 11-0 run by Colby, forced the game into overtime, at 61-61. The Mules then quickly closed the door on Babson; Tyson iced the game with a pair of free throws, earning Colby a 78-74 comeback victory.
As is clear from the game summary,
Noah Tyson had an outstanding performance for The Mules. He lead all scorers with 21 points, including five timely three pointers. He also led the team with eight rebounds, had two assists, and forced one steal.
Matt Hanna also had a strong performance, scoring 20 points, pulling in six boards, and dishing out three assists. Colby had three scorers with over 20 points, last but certainly not least of which was
Jack Lawson, who had 20 points on 13 shots, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks.
With such a strong start to the season, The Mules will look to keep the wins coming when they host the University of Southern Maine on Tuesday, November 30th, at 7:00 PM in the Margaret M. Crook Arena.
