Brunswick, ME – The Colby College Women's Tennis Team sent six players to the ITA Regional Championships (October 1st-3rd). The players selected to participate were Senior Captains Carly Levitz and Lindsey Hernandez, as well as Senior Katherine Dougherty, Sophomores Sam Riordan and Sydney Landau, and Freshman Caroline Kittle. Six players being sent to the ITA Regional Championships is the most in recent program history and is a big testament to the rise in work ethic and ranking of Colby Women's Tennis over the past couple of years. 

Levitz and Riordan represented Colby in the A Draw singles. Levitz, who garnered a seed at this year's championships and won All-American Status at last spring's NCAA Championship Tournament in Chattanooga, TN, drew a tough first round against a player from Middlebury who was an eventual quarterfinalist. Riordan played an extremely tight two set match but ultimately lost to a player from Williams. 

Herndandez, Kittle and Landau represented Colby in the B Draw Singles. Herndandez had a great run to the fourth round, with victories over Babson and Mt. Holyoke before a tight two set loss to Tufts. Kittle, in a fantastic freshman debut at the biggest tournament of the fall season, scored a win against a player from Williams before falling to a player from MIT in the third round. Laundau fell in her opening match in a very close tiebreaker against a player from Wesleyan, currently one of the best women's tennis team at the Division III level in the country. 

In the doubles, the Mules found success with a win for Levitz and Hernandez over a team from Springfield to make the Round of 32.  Kittle and Dougherty had a successful Wallach Invitational to start the fall, but came up short against a team from Wellesley. Riordan and Landau also fell in their opener to a team from MIT in a close match tiebreaker. 

Overall, there were plenty of good things to take away for the Mules from the 2021 ITA Regional Championships. The Mules conclude their fall season and will take the courts in the spring season starting in March. The spring season begins February 15th.
