Colby Celebrates Senior Day, Square Off Against Cardinals

Waterville, MAINE- The Mules faced Wesleyan University on Sunday for Senior Day.  The match also marked the final home game of the season.

Colby celebrated their three seniors prior to the game beginning.  Their contributions to the team culture over the course of their time on Mayflower Hill have been invaluable and the connections that they've made with their teammates are lifelong.

The Mules started the game off strong, with Megan Rittenhouse scoring a goal on a penalty corner five minutes into the first quarter. Wesleyan would come back just over two minutes later to bring the score to a 1-1 tie after fifteen minutes. Wesleyan would then score another goal in the second quarter to bring them to a 2-1 advantage at the end of the first half.

Heading into the second half down a goal, the Mules were eager to equalize the score. Senior Sally Cassidy scored off of a broken penalty corner with the assist to Casey Winslow to tie the game at two goals apiece with nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. Despite the game being tied and the Mules feeling the momentum heading into the last fifteen minutes, Wesleyan was able to find the back of the net and hold off the battling Mules to secure the win.

Colby will play again on Tuesday, October 19, at 7PM in Medford, Massachusetts against Tufts University. Go Mules!
