Box Score Medford, MA – The Colby College Men's Basketball team suffers their first loss of the season at the 23rd ranked Tufts College Jumbos 80-67.
GAME NOTES
- Colby and Tufts started out the game sitting at #5 and #22 in the D3Hoops.com poll. In the much anticipated top 25 matchup both teams came out looking to prove themselves. They battled it out in the first half with Colby taking a 14-12 lead at the 11:47 mark. Tufts would fight back to take a 33-25 halftime lead. The second half was more of the same. Colby clawed back to go up four points with 12 minutes to go. The Jumbos would go on a 10-3 run to regain the lead with nine minutes to go. Tufts would hold on to their lead to hand Colby their first loss of the season with an 80-67 win.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES
Alex Dorion (photo insert) led all scorers on the afternoon hitting 23 points. He went 8-14 from the field and 5-11 from three.
- Will King continued to play a big role with 14 points. Dean Weiner would also get in double figures with 10 points for the Mules.
- Noah Tyson added eight points and five rebounds while Matt Hanna had six.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE JUMBOS
- Tufts had players score in double figures in the win. Eric Savage scored a team high 22 points going 50% from the field. Luke Rogers was close behind with 19 points. He added 12 points to complete the double-double.
- Tyler Aronson pitched in with 14 points for the Jumbos and Dylan Thoerner pitched in eight.
KEY STATS
- Lance Rogers of Tufts and Noah Tyson are first and fifth respectively in the NESCAC in rebounds per game. Rogers had 12.3 per game while Tyson has 8.3.
- Jefferson still sits atop the conference in points per game with 22.4. Rogers is fifth with 16.1 per game.
NEXT MATCHUP
- The Mules are back home next Friday February, 7 when they welcome Hamilton College to town for a 7:00 PM tip time. They will then take on Amherst College at 3:00 PM Saturday February, 8.
