Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team shut out the University of New England Nor'easters 4-0. The Mules now move to 10-4-2 overall.
GAME NOTES: Savannah Shaw (headline photo) played stellar in between the pipes, stopping 16 shots and securing her first shutout of the season. Offensively, the Mules fired on all cylinders scoring four goals on the night, marking its fourth game on the year with four or more scores.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:
- Bri Michaud-Nolan rifled in a powerful shot early in the first period to take a 1-0 lead. Aimely Michaud-Nolan and McKinley Karpa assisted on the play.
- Anna Cosentino scored the next goal at 5:45 in the second period. Lauren Klein (photo inset) and Lily von Stade assisted with the score.
- Klein scored the Mules' third goal with 23 seconds remaining in the second frame. Tay Munson and Madi Brown sent the puck towards the net for the assists.
- Natalie Maus put the game away in the third period with an unassisted goal at 7:07.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE NOR'EASTERS:
- Jenna Benjamin made 34 saves for the Nor'easters.
- The penalty kill unit for UNE stopped three out of four of Colby's opportunities.
- Kyra Yu led UNE with four shots on the night.
KEY STATS:
- Shaw now moves to 2-1-0 overall with a .928 save percentage.
- With the assist, Karpa now ties Lexi Cafiero to lead the team with 15 points.
