Men's Ice Hockey falls to Wesleyan, 3-1

MIDDLETOWN, Conn.- The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team lost to the Cardinals of Wesleyan University, 3-1.

GAME NOTES:  The Mules finished the last seconds of the game with momentum as they avoided the shutout. Now on the season, Colby sits 5-7-1 overall (2-6 in NESCAC).

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:

  • Logan Clarke (headline photo) scored the power play goal at the 19:57 mark of the third period. Austen Halpin (photo inset) and Spencer Hewson assisted on the play.
  • Andy Beran stopped 23 shots. His conference record is now 1-1-0 and save percentage is .925 in NESCAC play.
  • Mules took the controlled the faceoffs, tallying 32 of 59.

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE CARDINALS:

  • Spencer Fox took the lead with the power play goal in the first period at 12:33. Walker Harris and Matt Zandi assisted on the score.
  • Liam Donelan then increased the lead with a goal coming at 18:51. Quincy Gregg and Andrew Pratt helped put the puck into the net.
  • Walker Harris then tallied his own goal in the second period. Emmet Powell assisted on the play at 9:46 of the second period.
  • Tim Sestak now moves to 8-4 on the season, finishing with 23 saves.

KEY STATS:

  • Both teams were able to score on the power play. The Mules went 1 of 4, while the Cardinals finished 1 of 5.
  • With the goal, Clarke now has five points on the season (two goals, three assists).
  • Carter Breitenfeldt led the Mules with 5 shots.

NEXT MATCHUP: The Mules now travel to Trinity College for special Sunday game 1/19. Puck drop is scheduled for 4:00pm.
