Volleyball falls in league opener

WATERVILLE, Maine — After both teams played in the MIT Invitational this weekend, the Bowdoin College volleyball team opened New England Small College Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 victory over Colby College on Tuesday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears, who took wins of 25-14, 25-18, 25-22, improved to 4-1 overall.
Erika Sklaver had eight kills and three service aces for Bowdoin. Caroline Flaharty Quincy Leech, and Michelle Albright all had seven kills as the Polar Bears spread around their offense.  Leech also had two service aces and a team-high 18 assists.
Paige Hanssen finished with 10 kills and three aces for Colby (0-5). Alexa Busser added four kills and
Erin Maidman had eight defensive digs. Emily Moslener finished with 12 assists.
The Mules travel to Connecticut College for league play at 8 p.m. Friday.
