WORCESTER, Mass. — The Colby College women's crew placed 11th overall after finishing fifth in the Petite Final at the 2016 National Invitational Rowing Championships on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond.
The Mules were 12th at last year's nationals, but moved up a spot this year with a time of 7 minutes 35.29 seconds over 2,000 meters in the Petite Final (places 7-12). Colby competed in the third heat and took fourth place with a time of 7:44.512.
The varsity 8 crew was Eliza Gesten '16 (coxswain), Elli Mapstone '19, Sophie Suechting '16, Emily Muller '17, Sarah Lane-Reticker '16, Emma Bartlett '17, Sophie Bartels '17, Katie Chicojay Moore '16, and Bobbi Alman '17.
In second varsity 8 racing, Colby won the third final with a time of 7:38.747 over William Smith, Simmons, and Mount Holyoke. The Mules just missed getting into the Petite Final and finished 13th overall.
Rowers on the crew were: Renata Levine '18, Ellie Krossa '19, Ling MacLean '18, Erica Lehner '16, Anya Parauda '19, Alex Lucas '17, Kate Blauer '19, Katy Donchik '18, and Maddie Andrews '17.
