With the 2025-26 season, Tracey Cote enters her 29th year as the Head Coach of Nordic Skiing at Colby.
In the 2024-25 season Cote led three skiers, including U.S. Ski Team member Jack Young '25, to the NCAA Division I Championships were the team finished 11th overall (2nd for Division III).
Cote was honored as the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2008 after leading her men's and women's team to the best ski carnival finishes in the history of the Colby Nordic team.
At the 2017 NCAA Division I Championships, Cote had four skiers (two men, two women) compete. The Nordic program combined with the alpine program to take 10th place at nationals. In the 2018 season, Andrew Egger '18 became the team's first ever qualifier for the U.S. U23 World Championship team, and Zane Fields '19 won a school record six EISA races and earned All-American honors at the NCAA meet. Fields became the team's first repeat All-American in 2019.
Cote coached Olivia Amber '17 to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Skiing Championships in 2016. Amber was the first Colby Nordic skier to earn All-American honors. Amber was one of three qualifiers along with Amy Bianco '17 and Fields '19. The women's team finished sixth overall in the 15K classic race.
Cote helped the men's Nordic team take a full team of at least three skiers to the NCAA meet for the first time in 2008. The men's squad also won four ski carnival races, the first time any Colby Nordic team has won a carnival race. Since that time, Colby skiers have regularly qualified for the NCAA championships and the ski teams consistently finish in the top five of all teams for overall placing in carnivals.
As an undergraduate Cote attended Northern Michigan University, where she was an MVP runner on a nationally-ranked cross-country team, captain of the ski team, and an NCAA Division I national qualifier. Cote attended graduate school at the University of Wyoming and earned a master of science degree in health education.
