Lauren McHatten

Lauren McHatten joined the Colby Alpine Skiing coaching staff for the 2023-24 season.

McHatten brings seven years of experience as a school counselor and coach in Winthrop, Maine. She coached middle school field hockey, varsity girls tennis, and was named Mountain Valley Conference Tennis Coach of the Year in 2023. During college McHatten coached young ski racers at the Chisholm Ski Club, working alongside her long-time coach and mentor Tim LaVallee. She was a competitive high school ski racer, earning a spot on Team Maine and competing at the Eastern High School Championships in 2009.

McHatten earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Saint Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont. She played Division II Field Hockey her freshman year and was an instructor for the Saint Michael's College Wilderness Program. She holds a Masters Degree in School Counseling and Human Relations from Husson University.

In addition to coaching, McHatten is currently working as a graduate intern at Colby Counseling Services. She is working towards a Certificate of Advanced Study in Clinical Counseling which will allow her to explore her interest in sports and performance psychology.
