Biography

BEFORE COLBY

Sara graduated from Spackenkill High School, where she was a member of the soccer, cross country, and track teams. She received the Outstanding Student of Spanish Award her senior year.

AT COLBY 

Sara is an Art History major at Colby. She is a member of the Colby Organic Farmer’s and Gardener’s Association.

2017 outdoor season highlights: Sara had three first-place finishes in the Tufts Sunshine Classic, winning the 100 dash, the 400 relay (anchor leg), and 1,600 relay (second leg). She earned All-NESCAC honors for running the second leg of the 1,600 relay that finished third. She also placed sixth in the 100 dash and ran in the 200 meters at the conference meet. Friedland was fifth in the 100 dash at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier and was 14th in the event at the New England Division III meet. Sara also ran in the 100 and 200 in a competition at Princeton.

2017 indoor season highlights: Friedland placed 10th at the Maine State meet in the 100 dash and also competed in the 200 meters and long jump. She was sixth in the 60 dash and raced in the 200 dash and 800 relay at the Bowdoin Invitational. Sara also placed sixth in the 60 dash at the Bates/MIT tri-meet.

2016 outdoor season highlights: Sara started the championship season by earning All-NESCAC honors in the 400 relay, helping the Mules to a second-place finish. She was 13th in the 100 dash and 15th in the 200 dash. At the New England DIII Championships, Sara helped the 400 relay team to an eighth-place finish and the relay team also was eighth at the ECAC meet. Friedland started the outdoor season at the Aztec Open with a third-place finish in the 200 dash. Sara finished the Colby Open with a win and personal best of 12.72 in the 100 dash and took fifth in the long jump. At the Aloha Relays, Friedland helped the 400 relay team to a third-place finish and was eighth in both the 200 dash (personal best 26.82) and the long jump.  

2016 indoor season highlights: Friedland finished third with the 4x200 meter relay team and fifth in the 60 dash at the Bates tri-meet to open the season. At the Bates Invitational, Sara finished first with the 4x200 meter relay team and seventh in the 60 dash. She finished fourth with the 4x400 relay team, fifth in the 60 dash, and 11th in the 200 dash at the Wheaton Invitational. At the Maine State Championships, Friedland finished third with the 4x400 meter relay team, fourth in the 60 dash, and 15th in the 200 dash.
