Justin Simpson

Justin Simpson is entering his second season as the assistant coach for the Colby College women's hockey team in the 2019-20 academic year. Simpson served as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Providence College women's hockey program for four years prior to joining the Mules staff.

Simpson works under Colby head coach Holley Tyng, who is a Providence graduate and a former player for the Friars.

"I couldn't be happier or more excited to welcome Justin to the Colby women's hockey family," Tyng said. "Justin blew me away with his hockey knowledge and ability to pick up on the finer details of the game as well as his ability to utilize film as a teaching tool."

Simpson has extensive experience with video analysis and breakdown. He was in charge at Providence and was the video coach for Hockey Canada and the women's national development team from August 2015 to January 2017. Simpson also was the video coach for the Laurentian University women's hockey team in Ontario for one year.

Simpson has a bachelor's degree from Laurentian and earned his master's at Providence.

"We talk a lot about our program core values and Justin's align perfectly with those of the team," Tyng said. "On the ice and off Justin will have an immediate impact on all that we do."
