Biography

BEFORE COLBY

Roy graduated from Hampden Academy, where he played football and was a member of the track and field team. He was valedictorian of his class, recipient of the MPA Principal’s Award, and recipient of the PVC Scholar Athlete Award.

AT COLBY 

Roy is an Economics-Mathematics and a Classics double major at Colby. Roy interned as an analyst with Audax Management Co. last summer.

2017 outdoor season highlights: Roy earned District 1 Academic honors, was a Class of 2017 Phi Beta Kappa inductee, and was on the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team. He also was among the top 10 senior student-athletes in cumulative grade point average. Roy also earned All-NESCAC honors as part of the champion 400 relay team. The relay team had a school record finish of 41.81 and then tied the record the following week in taking third at the New England Division III meet. Donnelly, who ran the opening leg, also led the Mules to wins in the 400 relay at the Maine State meet and an event at Tufts. 

2017 indoor season highlights: Donnelly competed in the 60-meter dash and 200 dash, finishing sixth in the 60 at the Maine State Championships. He was named to the NESCAC Winter All-Academic Team. 

2016 outdoor season highlights: Roy earned All-NESCAC honors while helping the 400-meter relay team take second at the conference championships. Donnelly started the outdoor season at the Colby Open with a fourth-place finish in the 100 dash, a seventh in the 200 dash, and helped the 4x100 meter relay team to a victory. At the PLNU Track & Field Invitational, Roy finished the 100 dash in 13th place, where he set a personal best of 11.19, finished in 29th in the 200 meter dash, where he set another personal best at 23.07, and helped the 4x100 meter relay to an eighth-place finish. Roy earned NESCAC Spring All-Academic honors.

2016 indoor season highlights: Donnelly competed in sprint events as a junior. In the 200-meter dash, Roy finished ninth at the Bates tri-meet, fifth at the Bates Invitational, third at the Wheaton Invitational, and seventh at the Maine State Championships. In the 60 dash, Donnelly finished seventh at the Bates tri-meet, second at the Bates Invitational, third at the Wheaton Invitational, and fourth at the Maine State Championships (55 meters). He was named to the NESCAC Winter All-Academic team.

2015 outdoor season highlights: Donnelly opened the season by finishing in 18th in the 100m and 25th in the 200m at the Jim Sheehan Memorial. At the Colby Invitational, Donnelly finished the 100 in ninth, the 200 in 13th, and helped the 4x100 relay team place third. At the Maine State Championships, Donnelly finished the 100 dash in fifth and 200 dash in 17th.

2015 indoor season highlights: Donnelly opened the season by finishing fifth in the 55 dash and seventh in the 200 at the USM Invitational. Donnelly then took fifth in both the 60 dash and 200 dash at the Bates Invitational. At the Maine State Championships, Roy finished his season by taking seventh in the 60 dash and 11th in the 200.

2014 outdoor season highlights: Donnelly finished the 100 meters in fifth and the 200 in 10th, and helped the 4x400 relay team take first at the Maine State Championships. At the Bates Invitational, Donnelly finished the 100 in fifth and the 200 in 10th.

2014 indoor season highlights: Donnelly opened the season by taking fifth in the 60 dash and 10th in the 200 at the Bates Invitational. At the Bowdoin Invitational, Donnelly took first in the 4x400m relay, fourth in the 60 dash, and eighth in the 200. Donnelly concluded his season at the Maine State Championships, finishing 10th in the 60 meters and 12th in the 200 meters.
