Biography

Why I chose Colby: When I was in the process of choosing a college, I was sure that I wanted to ski and I wanted a liberal arts education, and I held these two factors in equally high esteems. When I toured Colby it just felt "right," and I am stoked it all worked out!

Internship/work experience: Every summer I work at Adrift Tahoe Paddle and Surf shop, which is a Kayak and Stand up Paddleboard rental shop in my hometown. Two mornings a week I lead 2 hour guided paddle tours of Lake Tahoe, sometimes with groups of up to 16 people! I also teach individual paddle board lessons, set up and repair equipment, and take care of retail.

Major: English with a Creative Writing focus, Philosophy Minor

Favorite Place on Campus: The arb is pretty neat

Most memorable team experience: Last season the women's team threw down a really strong performance at the Middlebury carnival and we placed second in the team scoring, matching a historical best. The level of hype amongst all of us was unreal, and as cliche as it sounds, it was so rewarding to see all of our hard work pay off and share that victory with the team, knowing we all took part in making that happen.

Plans after Colby:

2020 season highlights: Sanchez skied in all six carnivals for the Mules, earning eight top-30 finishes and scoring for Colby in five carnival races. Sanchez's rookie campaign was highlighted by a 6th place finish in the 15km classic at the Regional Championships, which helped the Mules match a program best 2nd place team finish. Sanchez also secured First-Team All State honors after placing 5th at the Maine State Collegiate Championships.
