Austin graduated with highest honors from Delbarton, where he played soccer, squash, and lacrosse.

Austin is majoring in Economics with a Financial Markets concentration. He is a member of Colby Entrepreneur Club and Colby Surf Club.
2017 season highlights: Austin led the Mules in scoring with 30 goals and 10 assists for 40 points, including a team-best five man-up goals. He also had 26 ground balls and five caused turnovers. Austin became the seventh Colby player in program history to reach 100 career goals. Sayre finished with 105 goals and 38 assists for 143 career points. Austin was on the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Academic Team.
2016 season highlights: Sayre, who was injured in the first game of the year, played in eight games for the Mules as a junior and made seven starts. He finished the season third on the team with 12 goals and four assists. Austin also picked up nine ground balls. He was a pre-season All-American to start the season.
2015 season highlights: Sayre earned All-American honorable mention honors and was on the All-NESCAC Second Team. Austin finished the season second on the team with 27 goals, third in assists (13), and third in points (40). Sayre had a shot percentage of .273 and recovered 13 ground balls.
2014 season highlights: In his first season with the Mules, Sayre was the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. He led the team with 36 goals and 47 points. His 11 assists put him at second on the team and his .283 shot percentage was sixth on the team. Additionally, Austin recovered 21 ground balls and caused three turnovers.
