Sean is a December 2016 transfer from Quinnipiac University. He played in the US Premier Hockey League (USPHL) with the Boston Junior Bruins and was honored as the league’s MVP and Goaltender of the Year after leading the team to the USPHL championship in 2013-14. In the 2013-14 season, he posted a record of 29-8 while accumulating a 2.06 goals against average and a .932 save percentage. In the playoffs that year, Sean had a 1.83 goals against average and a .943 save percentage in six games. He played with the Boston Jr. Bruins at the EJHL level in 2012-13 and played two seasons for the Dallas Stars Under-18 in the Tier 1 EHL level.
In his time at Quinnipiac, he was a two-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team selection. He played in seven games in his first two years, earning his first collegiate victory in a 3-1 win against University of Massachusetts at Amherst as a first-year. Sean made his first collegiate start and stopped 19 shots in a 3-3 tie with UMass-Lowell.
2017-2018 season highlights: Sean was close to unbeatable in goal while leading the Mules to the NESCAC title and the NCAA Frozen Four. He had a 7-1-2 record and a .961 save percentage over the final 10 games before the NCAA semifinals. Sean had a season record of 16-8-2, a 2.09 goals against average, and a .940 save percentage. He set single-season records for wins, save percentage, and total saves (845). Sean had career records for goals against average and save percentage. Lawrence earned All-New England honors and was the Millett Award winner for top male senior athlete at Colby.
2016-2017 season highlights: Lawrence played in 12 games after transferring from Quinnipiac. He had a save percentage of .915 and the fifth-best winning percentage in the NESCAC with a 6-4-1 record. In nine league games, Sean was 6-2, had a 1.74 goals against average, and a .944 save percentage. Sean had 311 saves in 12 games.
