Tyler Cottle

Tyler Cottle joined the Colby Football coaching staff as the Defensive Line Coach ahead of the 2025-26 academic year.

Before coming to Mayflower Hill, Cottle served as the Interim Head Coach at Misericordia University for the fall of 2024. Prior to that, he was the Defensive/Special Teams Coordinator since 2020. 

As the Defensive Coordinator at Mis the defense set new school records in 2023 in Total Defense: 273 YPG (30th in the Nation), First Down Defense: 144 (14th in the Nation), Pass Defense: 150.9 YPG (16th in the Nation), Opponent 3rd Down Conversion: 29% (21st in the Nation) and Sacks: 30 (23rd in the Nation). Cottle also coached 2nd Team All-Region corner Lamontae Wilson.

Prior to Misericordia Cottle was a Defensive Assistant Coach and Co-Special Teams Coordinator at his alma mater, Juniata College from 2019-20.

Before 2019, Cottle was the Defensive Backs Coach and Co-Special Teams Coordinator at Bates College where he mentored a second-team All-NESCAC honoree Jon Lindgren and saw the team improve in pass yards allowed per game from 276.1 to 177.3.  Cottle also coached in the HBCU Spirit of America All-Star game.

Cottle has also coached at Seton Hill College (2013-17) and Becker College (2012-13). At Seton Hill, he coached safeties and saw responsibilities as the defensive video coordinator. During his tenure, he coached both the school’s all-time tackles leader and the all-time interceptions leader. Under his watch, Seton Hill saw their first PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week in school history. At Becker, Cottle served as the outside linebackers coach.

Cottle earned his B.S. in Sports Management from Juniata College and was a four-year letterman.
