Ben Gravel

Ben Gravel joined the Colby Baseball coaching staff in the summer ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Before coming to Mayflower Hill, Gravel was the Head Baseball Coach at Southern Maine Community College. During his two seasons as Head Coach, he guided the Seawolves to a 47-26 overall record, and a 25-11 mark in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play. In his inaugural season, Gravel led SMCC to a 23-13 record, the YSCC regular season championship, a No. 1 playoff seed, and a conference championship appearance, earning YSCC Coach of the Year honors. His second season featured a 24-13 finish and the program's longest winning streak in more than 20 years.

Prior to SMCC, Gravel served as an assistant coach at Merrimack College during the 2023-2024 season where he coached hitters and outfielders. That year saw the Warriors set a program record for single season wins and had an offense that finished near the top of Division I in several offensive categories.

Before Merrimack, Gravel was an assistant coach at his alma mater Saint Joseph's College of Maine, where he coached hitters, outfielders, and catchers. As a player, Gravel was a two-time First Team All-GNAC selection, earning a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Sport Management and a Master's degree in Education.

"I'm incredibly excited to join the Colby Baseball coaching staff. I want to sincerely thank Coach Woods for the opportunity to become part of this outstanding program and the Colby Athletics family. I'm grateful to join such a successful baseball program, an exceptional institution, and a coaching staff that I have tremendous respect for. Colby College is a truly special place, and I can't wait to start building relationships with our student-athletes, investing in their development on and off the field, and helping continue the success that Colby Baseball has established. Go Mules!"
