Mules Grab First Win of the Season Against Thomas

Waterville, Maine - The Colby Men's Soccer team grabbed their first win of the 2026 season tonight against cross-town rivals Thomas College. A 3-2 win against the Terriers means that for the fifth year running, the Mules pick up their first win against Thomas, taking their record to 1-0-1.

Colby came out swinging from the whistle, with two goals in the first 30 minutes. Senior Oliver Daboo opened the scoring with a brilliant left-footed volley, connecting off a cross from Anthony Bugliari. Ikkei Yasuda doubled the lead in his Colby debut with a well-worked solo effort. The Mules controlled the first half, registering 10 shots with 7 on target.

Coming out of the break, Colby continued to put pressure on the Thomas goal as Luke Cunniffe and Daboo both took strikes but saw their efforts go wide. Thomas responded in the 73rd minute with their first goal of the night, but two minutes later, Theo Scott doubled Colby's lead. Although the Terriers continued to stick around with a goal 8 minutes later, the Mules stayed composed and saw the game out. Goalkeeper Jackson Magee was instrumental in keeping Thomas off the board for a third time, coming up with 6 second-half saves.

Colby's NESCAC conference play starts this Saturday, September 12th, as they visit Medford, Massachusetts to take on the national #1 seed, Tufts University.
