Brunswick, Maine - The Colby Women's Soccer team kicked off the 2026 campaign in commanding fashion Friday night, securing a 1-0 shutout victory over rival Bowdoin College on the road in both teams' season and NESCAC opener.
The Mules dictated the pace from start to finish, completely controlling the attack and out shooting the Polar Bears by a massive 23-3 margin. Colby generated 10 shots on goal while limiting Bowdoin to just two total shots on target all afternoon. After dominating the run of play through a scoreless first half, Colby finally broke through early in the second period. In the 55th minute,
Ella Caraluzzi set up
Abigail Jarvi, who buried the game's opening goal. Jarvi, the Mules' leading scorer from a season ago, picked up right where she left off to deliver the game-winner.
Colby's backline and defensive unit kept Bowdoin contained the rest of the way, preserving the clean sheet and earning crucial points in the NESCAC standings to start the year.
With the win, the Mules open the season 1-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
Colby remains on the road Wednesday, September 9th, as they head to Beverly, Massachusetts to face Endicott. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.Â
