Brunswick, Maine — Colby Volleyball extended its flawless start to the season, moving to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in NESCAC play with a hard-fought 3-1 victory against rival Bowdoin College.
The Mules showcased deep offensive weapons and strong defensive resilience, accumulating 54 kills, eight solo blocks, and ten service aces across four sets.
Brianna Hazak served as Colby's "kill leader" with a team-high 11 kills and eight digs, while Haley Beigh showcased an amazing performance of 10 kills over 17 attempts (.471 hitting percentage). Brady Moseley delivered a strong double-double effort, terminating nine kills to go along with 16 digs and a solo block. Olivia Drayden was absolutely lethal against the Polar Bears, racking up five kills, three solo blocks, two block assists, and a service ace. Kendall Glover contributed six kills and a solo block, while Sydney DeProfio added five kills on a .333 clip. Additionally, Marjorie Johnson (.667) and Anaya Francois (.250) provided two kills apiece. From behind the service line, Colby consistently pressured Bowdoin's serve-receive line, led by Jordan Lee 's match-high four aces alongside three from libero Reese Loyd. Second-year setter Sydney DeProfio dished out a spectacular 22 assists, while Gabby Grujic contributed nine assists and nine digs. Defensively, Reese Loyd protected the back row with 21 digs, leading a unit that totaled 75 team digs to keep play alive.
The Mules will look to maintain their undefeated streak on Saturday, September 26, taking on the University of New England at 1:00 p.m. at the Margaret M. Crook Center.
