Hartford, Conn. - The second ranked Colby Volleyball team opened NESCAC play in impressive fashion Friday night, earning a 3-1 victory (25-14, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22) over Trinity College at Ray Oosting Gymnasium. With the win, the Mules remain perfect on the season at 5-0 (1-0 NESCAC), while handing the Bantams their first loss of the year.
Colby took control early, cruising through the opening two sets behind an efficient attack. The Mules hit .385 in the first set and .361 in the second, building a commanding 2-0 match lead. Trinity responded in a tightly contested third set to extend the match, but Colby regrouped in the fourth, fending off a late rally to secure the conference road victory.
Brianna Hazak led the offense with a match-high 16 kills and completed a double-double with 11 digs. Hayley Beigh was dominant at the net, hammering down 14 kills while hitting an efficient .433.
Brady Moseley also recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 kills and a team-high 21 digs, while
Kendall Glover added nine kills and six total blocks.
The setting tandem of
Sydney DeProfio and
Gabby Grujic were back at it again totaling 29 and 22 assists, respectively. Libero
Reese Loyd anchored the backline defense with 16 digs.
The Mules look to keep their unbeaten streak alive tomorrow, Sept. 19, when they remain on the road for another conference matchup at Connecticut College.
