Colby Sweeps Conn. College to Stay Perfect at 6-0

New London, Conn. - The second ranked Colby Volleyball team completed a dominant road weekend to open NESCAC play, sweeping Connecticut College 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-21) on Saturday afternoon at Luce Fieldhouse. With the victory, the Mules improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in conference action, while the Camels fall to 2-6 (0-2 NESCAC).

Colby set the tone from the jump behind an efficient offensive attack, hitting .481 in the opening frame to set up a convincing 25-15 set win. The Mules carried that momentum into the second set with a .375 hitting percentage to take a 2-0 match lead before closing out the sweep in a competitive third set. As a team, Colby hit .304 on the afternoon while holding Conn. College to a .091 mark.

Kendall Glover led the Mules' attack with a match-high 10 kills on .600 hitting to go along with five total blocks (one solo, four assists). Brianna Hazak added nine kills and five block assists, while Evelyn Kunde delivered eight kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Hayley Beigh contributed six kills on .357 hitting, and Olivia Drayden added four kills and three blocks at the net.

The setting tandem of Gabby Grujic and Sydney DeProfio continued to orchestrate the offense, dishing out 19 and 16 assists, respectively. DeProfio and libero Reese Loyd tied for the team lead on defense with seven digs apiece.

Colby will look to keep its undefeated record intact when the team returns home Wednesday, September 23rd hosting UMass Boston at 7:00pm.
