Medford, Mass. — Colby's field hockey team battled against unbeaten Tufts on Saturday the twelfth, but the Mules fell 5-0 in a NESCAC matchup at Ounjian Field.
Tufts scored twice in the opening quarter, but Colby settled in defensively and kept the Jumbos off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half. Tufts added one goal in each of the final three quarters to secure the victory.
Colby goalkeeper Ginna Jacoby kept the Mules within striking distance throughout the contest, recording 18 saves on 23 shots on goal. Despite facing pressure, the Mules were able to get six shots on goal and stayed composed to hold the Jumbos to five goals.
Colby, now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in NESCAC play, will look to rebound in its next contest tomorrow on Bill Alfond Field against Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
