Softball Set to Clash with Rowan in NCAA Super Regionals

Waterville, Maine — After making their first ever NCAA Tournament debut and becoming regional champions, the Colby College Softball team is heading to the NCAA Division III Super Regionals. The Mules will travel to Glassboro, New Jersey, for a best-of-three series against Rowan University, with a coveted ticket to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Finals on the line.

The action begins on Thursday, May 21st at 12:00pm at Rowan Softball Field. Game 2 is slated for Friday at 1:00 PM, with an "if necessary" Game 3 immediately following.

Both squads enter the weekend playing their best softball of the spring, each carrying massive momentum from regional titles.

Colby punched its ticket to the Sweet 16 after a dramatic run through the NCAA Regional round. After losing game one, the Mules went on a four game win streak to claim the regional title. Rowan enters the matchup boasting an equally impressive postseason resume. The Profs captured the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championship before tearing through their own NCAA Regional bracket to earn the right to host this weekend's Super Regional.

While both programs are currently among the Division III elite, this weekend's matchup marks a rare meeting between the Mules and the Profs. The two teams have only faced each other four times in history, with Rowan holding a 3-1 all-time advantage. However, you have to turn back the calendar nearly four decades to find their last encounter, as all four previous games were played during the 1987 and 1988 seasons.

The Super Regional round format shifts from the traditional regional tournament bracket to a grueling, heavyweight best-of-three series. The team that secures two victories this weekend will officially advance to the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Finals, featuring the final eight teams.

Fans unable to make the trip to Glassboro can follow all the action live using the live video and live stats links as well as check out Rowan's Super Regional page which includes tickets
