Mules Sweep Doubleheader, Walk Off Endicott in 13 Innings

Waterville, ME - The Colby College Mules (4-0) had 2 huge wins this weekend when they swept the Endicott College Gulls (1-4) in a Sunday afternoon doubleheader at Coombs Field. Colby took the first game by a score of 2-1 before rallying for an 11-10 walk-off win in 13 innings in game two.

Game One Mule Moments:

  • Tony Silva gave Colby an early lead in the first inning with an RBI single that scored Corey Aubuchon.
  • Endicott tied the game in the second inning on an RBI fielder's choice from James Benestad.
  • Aubuchon broke the tie in the fifth inning with a solo home run down the left field line.
  • Thomas Rioux (W, 2-0) threw six strong innings, allowing one run (unearned) on five hits while striking out four.
  • Sam Lowenstein worked a scoreless seventh inning in relief.
  • Matt Higgins closed the game with two scoreless innings and earned the save as Colby secured the 2-1 victory.

Game Two Mule Moments:

  • Tony Silva drove in the game's first run in the opening inning, scoring Will Burns.
  • Endicott answered with a six-run stretch across the second and third innings, highlighted by a three-run home run from Cade Bernardo.
  • Colby rallied in the fourth inning with RBI hits from Patrick Shrake and a sacrifice fly from Corey Aubuchon.
  • The Mules erupted for five runs in the fifth inning, including a three-RBI double from Shrake that tied the game.
  • Jeb Burkhart drove in a run in the eighth inning to tie the game at 9-9.
  • Henry Silva delivered a solo home run in the ninth inning to tie the game again and force extra innings.
  • Liam Shea-Gallagher ended the game in the 13th inning with a walk-off RBI single that scored Myles Gythfeldt.
  • Matt Mahoney (W, 1-0) earned the win after two scoreless innings in relief.

The Mules will return to action later this week when they play University of Southern Maine at Coombs Field this Tuesday.
