Clinton, NY - The Colby Women's Tennis Team traveled to race rival Hamilton this weekend in their first NESCAC match of the season. 

Colby battled hard in doubles, but the #1 team of Isabella Suk and Ella Novion fell 6-3. The #2 and #3 doubles teams were both fighting hard on their courts being down 4-5. Unfortunately, Amelie Gal and Soumya Wijesekera at #3 doubles lost on a deciding deuce point, falling 4-6. The #2 pair of Jade Finestone and Michaela Landry continued to fight but ultimately lost 5-7, giving Hamilton the early advantage after doubles. 

The Mules responded with strong efforts in singles play. Freshman Soumya Wijesekera dropped the first set but fought back to win the match 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Sophomore Ella Novion also had an impressive comeback after losing the first set, winning 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Junior Michaela Landry dominated with a 7-6(3), 6-1 victory. Junior Jade Finestone, sophomore Waka Aida, and freshman Tina Barrow battled hard but ultimately fell in their matches.  

In the end, the Mules fell just short, losing a close 3-4 match to Hamilton. Colby looks ahead to the remainder of the season ready to continue competing.
