Mules Top Camels 12-4 in First Conference Win

New London, Conn. - In their match up against the Camels of Connecticut College, the Colby Men's Lacrosse team dominated on the road, storming back from an early deficit to secure a commanding 12-4 victory, their first NESCAC win of the season. After trailing 4-2 in the second quarter, the Mules' defense locked down the Camels, holding them scoreless for the final 43 minutes of play while the offense ignited for 10 unanswered goals.

Daniel O'Connor and Eli Chilicki provided a devastating one-two punch for the Colby attack. O'Connor led all scorers with five goals and an assist, while Chilicki recorded four goals and one assist. Trailing by two in the second period, Joey Hagerty sparked the comeback before O'Connor leveled the score and Chilicki buried the go-ahead goal just before halftime.

Colby's defense stood out in the second half. Will Heisler anchored the unit with 10 saves, and the Mules' clearing game remained a perfect 19-for-19. Tristan Bassett battled at the X to lead the team with seven ground balls, while Will Bainbridge helped disrupt the Camel offense with two caused turnovers.

Colby pulled away in the final frames, outscoring the Camels 5-0 in the fourth quarter alone. Drew Gannon added to the tally alongside late strikes from O'Connor and Chilicki to put the game out of reach. With a significant 43-32 advantage in shots and 22 forced turnovers, the Mules secured a major NESCAC win. Colby is back in action away at Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday for a mid-week non-conference match up.
