Waterville, Maine - The Colby Alpine and Nordic Ski Teams are ready to kick off the 2026 NCAA Championships this Wednesday, March 11th in Utah. The four day event will be hosted by the University of Utah with Alpine events taking place at the Utah Olympic Park and the Nordic events at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center. Competition will begin with Alpine Wednesday with the Giant Slalom followed by Nordic on Thursday with the 7.5k Classic. The Alpine team will then compete Friday with the Slalom event as Nordic wraps up competition Saturday with the 20k freestyle.
The Colby Alpine team has qualified four skiers for the event.
Townsend Mikell representing the Men's team and a full Women's team consisting of
Carissa Cassidy,
Kate McKenney, and
Althea Noyes. This is the second straight year the women have qualified a full team. Cassidy, a 2025 All-American, is making her second appearance in the NCAA Championships as the rest of the squad makes their debuts.
As for the Colby Nordic team they have qualified four skiers as well.
Lola Villafranco will compete as the lone Women's team representative joined by a trio from the Men's team in
Ben Lewis,
James Underwood, and
Andrew Defor. Defor will be entering his second NCAA appearance while the other three make their debuts. This marks the sixth consecutive season that the Nordic team has qualified three or more skiers for the NCAA Championships. The Mules will look to land an All-American for the first time since 2019.
