Box Score Waterville, ME - The Colby Women's Tennis Team opened its 2025-26 spring season with a dominant home dual match victory against Endicott College. The Mules had not faced the Gulls in a dual match since Fall 2023 and made a strong statement in their return to competition.
Colby set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches. Senior captain Amelie Gal and freshman Soumya Wijesekera led the team with a decisive 6-0 victory at the #2 position. Junior Kendall Skulley and freshman Kat Lowy secured the doubles point with a 6-2 win at #3, giving the Mules an early 1-0 lead. Senior captain Isabella Suk and sophomore Ella Novion completed the doubles sweep with a 6-3 victory at the #1 spot.
The momentum continued into singles play, where Colby dominated across the lineup. Junior Jade Finestone was the first to finish, defeating Endicott's #1 player 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Ella Novion followed with a strong 6-2, 6-0 win at #2 singles. Shortly after, freshman Tina Barrow clinched the overall match for the Mules with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory at the #5 position.
Junior Michaela Landry added another point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at #3, bringing the score to 5-0. Sophomore Abby Hess won a promising 6-0, 6-1 at #6. Freshman Soumya Wijesekera closed out the day with a 6-1, 6-2 victory to complete the sweep.
The Mules defeated Endicott 7-0 in just three hours of play.
The Colby women's tennis team will look to continue this momentum into road matches next weekend against NESCAC opponents Hamilton and Amherst.
