Brunswick, ME - In a tightly contested College Squash Association Match of the Week, Colby came up just short in a 6–3 loss to Bowdoin, with nearly every matchup decided by narrow margins.
Colby's three victories came from the top of the ladder. At the one spot, Laavanya Kugan '26 battled for 45 minutes, trading games before clinching the deciding frame in dramatic 11–9 fashion. Abhisheka David '26 and Nathalie Sim '27 followed with composed performances of their own, each earning decisive 3–0 wins.
The remainder of the lineup reflected just how close the match truly was, as every Mule pushed their opponent to extended scorelines. At number five, Reshika Rajarathinam '28 fought through a grueling 50-minute, five-game match before narrowly falling 12–10 in the fifth. Amanda Miller '26 and Tori Thill '28 each claimed games from their opponents, while Haley Coon '28 and Gigi McWhorter '29 both forced 14–12 games. Maggie Motch '28 added to the drama, pushing her opponent to a tight 13–11 game.
The match showcased hard-fought, nail-biting battles across every position, underscoring the intensity of the Maine rivalry. The Colby women will look for redemption in the coming weeks at NESCAC Championships and Nationals.
The Mules return to the road next weekend for NESCAC Championships, where today's result secures them the seventh seed.
