Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men’s Ice Hockey Defeated by No. 2 Hamilton

Waterville, Maine - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team faced the Continentals of Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon. Despite taking the lead early in the first, Colby fell behind and lost 7-4 to the Continentals in their second match-up of the season. The Mules now stand 9-9-2 overall and 5-8-1 in the NESCAC.

In a high-scoring first period, the Mules opened up the game just over a minute into the game as junior Jadyn Grier scored his third of the season assisted by Matthew Macdonald. Hamilton tied up the game at 4:32, but Colby answered back a short 14 seconds later with a goal from senior Reese Farrell assisted by Donovan O'Neil and Bobby Landry. Grier found his second of the game on the Mules power play, taking the lead 3-1. A few minutes later Hamilton scored two quick goals to tie the game once again. Sophomore Colby Browne finished up the scoring in the first with his 17th goal of the season, assisted by Massimo Gentile with 47 seconds left in the period.

The Continentals came out strong to start the second, tying the game 4-4 just 34 seconds into the period. The Mules were out shot 12 to four in the second, and Hamilton took their first lead of the game 5-4 at 18:07. Hamilton netted two more goals in the third period to finish with a 7-4 win. Sophomore Cooper Rautenstrauch recorded 23 saves and senior Adam Costley recorded six. 

The Mules play again Friday at Wesleyan at 7pm.
