Box Score Middletown, Conn. - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team faced the Cardinals of Wesleyan University on Friday evening. Wesleyan took the lead in the first period as Colby tried to catch up for the remainder of the game, but the Cardinals stood strong and finished with a 2-1 win. The Mules now stand 9-10-2 overall and 5-9-1 in the NESCAC.
Wesleyan took the lead in the first, finding the back of the net with five minutes to play in the period. While the Mules out shot the Cardinals in the second, they took five penalties in the period, as Wesleyan capitalized and took a 2-0 lead with a power play goal at 1:12. Trailing 2-1 entering the final period, Colby fought hard to tie the game, out shooting Wesleyan 39 to 24 through the third, but it wasn't enough as Wesleyan held onto their lead. Sophomore
Cooper Rautenstrauch recorded 22 saves through 60 minutes.
The Mules play again Saturday at Trinity at 3pm.
