Women's Lacrosse Set for a Highly Anticipated Home Battle with Tufts

Waterville, Maine - To begin the 2026 campaign, the third ranked Colby Women's Lacrosse team will face off with fellow powerhouse #2 Tufts in a long awaited NESCAC matchup. Both teams made it to the NCAA DIII Final Four last season and will matchup in an early test this Saturday, February 28th here on Bill Alfond Field.

"I'm really excited about the upcoming season," said Head Coach Karen Henning. "The team has been working hard and learning a lot; each day, we are committed to challenging ourselves to get better, both individually and collectively. With many new faces heading into the first game for both sides, it's going to be an exciting, high-energy matchup as we all look to establish our identity early on."

The Mules are coming off their best season in program history with the deep final four run topping their pervious high mark of reaching the NCAA Quarterfinals numerous times in the past. Colby concluded 2025 with a 17-4 overall record, the most wins in program history, on top of three All-Conference and three All-American awards.

Despite losing a highly talented senior class due to graduation, their are plenty of members on the team ready to step up this season. Offensively, junior Tate Ban and senior Stella Regan return to the roster who had 29 and 27 total points last year. Defensively, sophomore Gisele Uva returns as well who was second on the team last season in caused turnovers (28) and ground balls (30) only behind the IWLCA's DIII and NESCAC's Defensive Player of the Year Kat Munter '25.

Henning is now entering her 19th season at the helm of the Colby Women's Lacrosse team. She is once again joined by the McVey Family Women's Lacrosse Assistant Head Coach Ari Cambio and Assistant Coach Kyra Schwartzman

Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm here in Waterville. Fans can check out the teams schedule tab to follow alongside the Mules this season and find out when they come to a location near you.
