Waterville, Maine - The Colby Baseball team heads into the 2026 season this Saturday, February 28th hosting a twinbill matchup with UMaine-Farmington. This will be the third straight year the Mules open the season against the Beavers with the most recent game ending in a dominating 26-4 Colby victory. The Mules have not lost to UMF since 2004.
The team is coming off an impressive fourth-straight third place finish in the NESCAC Championship Tournament including a 23-14 overall record last year with six All-NESCAC honorees. The Mules exited eight seniors to graduation last spring and will be led by a new group of seven seniors this season;

Derek Woods,
Thomas Rioux,
Joe Sylvester,
Tony Silva,
Kyle Bourque, and
Adam Schwartz. The team is joined by the class of 2029 consisting of eight student-athletes.
Myles Gythfeldt, the 2025 NESCAC Rookie of the Year returns to the lineup, who led the Mules last season with a solid .408 batting average (minimum requirement of 2 PA/G and 75% of games played). The sophomore also had the most RBIs (32), runs (28), and hits (53) on the team. Be on the lookout for T. Silva as well who hit above the .300 mark last year with a .321. The senior had the most doubles on the team in 2025 (11) to go along with 25 RBIs, 42 hits, and 22 runs. Gythfeldt and T. Silva were the only members of the team last season to start in all 37 games. On the mound, Rioux had the most inning pitched for the Mules last year with 54. The senior tallied 46 strikeouts only trialing to last years Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year
