Middlebury, Vermont - The #11 Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team faced the #5 Middlebury Panthers for an intense Friday night matchup. Despite strong play, the Mules fell 3-2.
Colby wasted no time getting on the board. Just 2:50 into the game,
Megan Martodam gave the Mules a 1-0 lead. Middlebury tied it up at the seven-minute mark and added another goal in the 14th minute on a power play. That didn't stop the Mules, who totaled 18 shots and earned one power-play opportunity in the opening period. Goaltender
Ally Martiniello made eight saves. Entering the second period down 2-1, Colby brought intensity, adding 18 more shots and winning 12 of 18 faceoffs. At 16:17,
Molly Lefebvre set the equalizer to make it 2-2, assisted by
Lulu Gray. Martiniello made an impressive 15 more saves to keep Middlebury off the board. The third period was action-packed, with Middlebury scoring halfway through to take the lead. The Mules responded with 21 more shots for a game total of 57, while Martiniello added eight more saves to finish with 31.
Jo Tattersall led the Mules in shots with nine. Despite strong efforts, Colby fell 3–2.
The Mules will rematch Middlebury College tomorrow for their last game of the regular season at 3PM.
