The Colby Women's Swimming and Diving team came out strong in their annual meet against fellow NESCAC schools, Bates and Bowdoin, and never looked back. A battle for the best team in Maine the meet took place at Bowdoin's pool and was scored as a double dual meet. The Mules dominated throughout the meet and won by beating Bates 243-52 and Bowdoin 194.5-104.5. Colby has now not lost a dual meet in 2 seasons making their record 18-0 over the last 2 years.
Starting out the 200 Medley relay the team of
Alexis Coates,
Kellen Mottl,
Lexi Asch and
Eliza Marco won the event by over 3 seconds and their time currently sits 5th in the country. It was also the 2nd fastest relay swum in school history. In the next event, the 200 freestyle,
Savannah Lombardi and
Zoe Buzzelli swam lifetime bests and did the 3rd and 4th fastest swims in Colby history. Dominating in the backstroke, Colby went 1,2,3 in the 100 with Coates wining followed by
Tahlia Crowley and
Zoe Fencil (7th in school history.)Â
In the 100 Breaststroke Mottl had an incredible swim and broke her school record by .7 of a second. Her time also has her currently ranked as the #2 swimmer in Division 3. In the 200 butterfly the 3 fastest swimmers in school history swam with Asch getting second and
Aria Kapoor doing the 2nd fastest swim in Colby history. They were joined by
Zoe Antonio who put up the 3rd fastest time in the record books. The next two swimming events, the 50 and 100 freestyle were both won by Marco and her time in the 50 has her ranked 11th in the country. Also in the 50,
Caitlin Lacey and Buzzelli swam the 6th and 7th fastest times in School history. Another school record would be broken in the 200 backstroke by Coates as she led a 1-5 finish by Colby. Fencil fished in 2nd with the 4th fastest Colby swim ever and she was followed by
Annabelle Mullin,
Sarah Michael and Crowley. Mottl continued her winning ways in the 200 Breaststroke with the 2nd fastest swim in Colby history and
Rhiannon Myhre put up the 3rd fastest swim in Colby history in the event as well.
Avery Rappaport got in on the winning action as well as she won the 3 M diving. Asch would then win the 100 butterfly where Kapoor finished just behind with the 4th fastest swim in Colby swimming history. In the final individual event the Mules dominated again as
Abby Bauman and Lombardi had a 1.2 finish. Bauman's time is 3rd in the Colby record books. To cap off the meet the Mules finished just the way they had started with a victory by 3 seconds in the 200 Freestyle relay. The team of Marco, Coates, Buzzelli and
Lucy Mackey swam to victory with the 2nd fastest time in school history.

The Mules will have next weekend off before they head to Wesleyan University on Thursday February 12th for the NESCAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Here they will look to improve on last years record setting performances. the meet will start Thursday night with the 800 freestyle relay and go all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday.      Â
