Brunswick, Maine - Colby Men's Soccer, 4-5-4 overall and 1-5-2 in the NESCAC conference, faced rivals #16 Bowdoin(7-2-4, 4-2-2) this afternoon. The Mules had a strong second half and scored off a well-worked cross, but ultimately fell to the Polar Bears, 3-1.
Bowdoin got off to a quick start, forcing Mules goalkeeper Jackson Magee into three early saves. Colby responded through Will Kogelmann, as the wingback forced the first save from the Polar Bears. Minutes later, Kameron Mohammed and Theo Scott each tried their luck but couldn't hit the target. Bowdoin shifted the tide in the 34th minute, converting a penalty to take a 1-0 lead. Owen Vighetti had a chance to level the score right before half, but a save from shotstopper Oliver King kept the Mules at bay heading into the break.
Coming out of half, the Polar Bears started well and doubled their lead. Colby responded brilliantly as Vighetti forced another save before Oliver Daboo found Charlie Scott to cut their deficit in half. The seniors linked up as Daboo floated a cross into Scott, who brilliantly redirected the ball into the back of the net. The Mules outshot their rivals in the second half, 7-4, but ultimately Bowdoin scored a third to put the game out of reach.
Colby is back in action on October 24th, as they visit Clinton, New York to take on Hamilton College.
