Poughkeepsie, N.Y. — Colby field hockey defeated Vassar 1-0 in overtime Sunday, earning a hard-fought victory behind a strong defensive effort and a game-winning goal from Ryan Hallisey.
After neither team scored through regulation, Hallisey found the back of the net in overtime off an assist from Bridget Everett to secure the win for the Mules. Colby and Vassar each recorded six shots, but Colby capitalized on its opportunity when it mattered most.
Goalkeeper Ginna Jacoby anchored Colby's defense, recording four saves to help preserve the shutout. The Mules also earned four penalty corners, including two in the second quarter, as they continued to pressure Vassar's defense throughout the contest.
The victory improved Colby's overall record to 6-5, and the Mules continued their season with a hard-earned road win going into their home game against Amherst College on October 17.
