Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mules Come Up Short in Battle with Bobcats

Lewiston, Maine - The Colby Men's Basketball team put together a strong first half and led early in the second, but couldn't withstand a late Bates surge in a 90–72 road loss Saturday afternoon.

Colby (now 9–2 on the season) looked sharp out of the gate, shooting 43% in the opening half and knocking down five threes to take a 43–38 lead into the break. The Mules stretched their advantage to eight early in the second, but cold shooting down the stretch made it difficult to keep pace. Offensively, Colby was paced by Marcos Montiel, who scored 14 points with a pair of threes. Mitch Humphrey continued his efficient stretch with 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Savion Stroud delivered another all-around effort: nine points, four assists, three rebounds and a steal. Mason Dobie added 10 points off the bench.

The Mules stayed competitive on the glass, grabbing 41 rebounds—15 of them offensive—and converted 13 second-chance points. But Colby struggled to sustain rhythm in the second half, shooting just 30%, while Bates' hot stretch created a gap the Mules couldn't close.

Colby Men's Basketball returns to action Friday January, 9th for the first conference game of the season welcoming Conn. College to Mayflower Hill.
