Waterville, Maine - In their first home matchup since November, the Colby Men's Basketball team began the season 1-0 in NESCAC play after defeating Conn. College Friday night 76-67. The win brings the Mules record to 10-2 on the season while the Camels drop to 10-3.
Colby's depth proved to be the difference with the bench outscoring the Camels bench 39–2. Four players reached double figures, led by
Dan Civello, who finished with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting while adding four rebounds, a steal and a block.
Sam Hinman provided a major spark once again with 17 points off the bench, hitting three threes and going 6-for-7 at the line.
Mason Dobie gave Colby another strong lift, contributing 13 points, six rebounds and four assists, while
Max Poulton logged a well-rounded night with 10 points, eight boards and four assists.
The Mules led 35–29 at the half and maintained control throughout the second, stretching the lead to as many as 14 with 13:09 remaining. Colby finished shooting 42.2 percent from the floor and knocked down 10 threes. Lastly, the Mules dominated the glass with a 49–37 rebounding advantage and held Conn College to 37.3 percent shooting.
Colby returns to conference action today versus Tufts at 3:00pm.
