Mules Shut Out Trinity College 8-0

Hartford, Conn. - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team faced the Bantams of Trinity College in a Friday night NESCAC matchup and put on a dominant performance, earning an 8-0 shutout victory. The Mules scored eight goals from seven different players and struck early, netting three goals within the first two minutes of the opening period.

Colby opened the game with an explosive first period, scoring five goals on 17 shots to set the tone. Just 43 seconds in, Beth Sinson put the Mules on the board with an assist from Allie Corrieri. Less than a minute later, at 1:41, Lulu Gray doubled the lead to make it 2-0, assisted by Addie Paskowski. Only 16 seconds later, at 1:57, Molly Lefebvre added another, with an assist from Sophie Melsness, giving Colby a 3-0 lead in under two minutes. The Mules continued to control play, killing off a Trinity power play before Julie Jasaitis extended the lead at 10:52, assisted by Kate Pura and Corrieri. Colby earned a power play at 12:04, and at 13:42 Marion Legge capitalized to make it 5-0, with assists from Emily Olsthoorn and Sophia Kennedy. Goaltender Ally Martiniello made 10 saves in the period to keep Trinity scoreless. Colby entered the second period with complete control. At 3:59, Legge scored her second goal of the game to make it 6-0. Megan Martodam added another at 12:39 to push the lead to 7-0. The Mules finished the period with 28 shots, while allowing just five from the Bantams. Colby earned two power play opportunities, and Martiniello added three more saves. Serafina Applegate took over in goal for the third period. At 7:51, Brooke Eselunas capped the scoring with a goal assisted by Abby Tattersall. Colby fired 25 shots in the final period, finishing with 77 total shots on the night. The Mules' defense held Trinity off the board for the remainder of the game.nMartiniello finished with 13 saves, while Applegate added three. Paskowski led the Mules with 10 shots, Legge led in goals with two, and Corrieri recorded two assists.

Colby is back in action tomorrow at 3:00 PM for a rematch against Trinity College.
