Brunswick, Maine - The Colby Men's Basketball team traded punches with Bowdoin throughout Saturday's rivalry matchup, but a strong second-half push from the Polar Bears proved the difference as the Mules fell 69–61 at Morrell Gymnasium.
The teams entered halftime tied 30–30 after a tightly contested opening 20 minutes, but Bowdoin gained separation early in the second half and used a 17–5 advantage in second-chance points to hold off Colby's comeback efforts. The Mules stayed within striking distance behind efficient trips to the free-throw line, shooting 18-for-22, but Bowdoin's timely shooting down the stretch kept the hosts in front.
Dan Civello led Colby with 18 points, going 6-for-13 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 at the line. Sam Hinman added 14 points while Max Poulton chipped in nine points and nine boards. Theo Pow provided a lift off the bench with nine points on 3-of-3 shooting.
Colby moves to 13–5 overall and 1–3 in NESCAC play. The Mules will hit the road taking on Amherst Friday night and Hamilton Saturday afternoon.
