Waterville, ME - The Nordic team closed out the final day of their home carnival in excellent fashion as junior
Andrew Defor skied his way to a podium position in the 7.5k classic interval start race. The temps may have been frigid, but the skiing by the Mules was anything but.
The men had a great day across the board with a podium, three in the top 15, and six in the top 30 which helped the men to finish 2nd on the day in the team scores.
Andrew Defor led the team in 3rd, with
Ben Lewis in 13th,
James Underwood in 14th,
Matous Matousek in 19th,
Finn Christiansen in 25th, and
Tyler Watt in 30th. Andy's podium finish was impressive as he was in 10th after the first of three laps, but was able to move up each lap to earn the first podium finish of his college career.
The women also had strong performances led by
Lola Villafranco in 22nd,
Natalie O'Brien in 26th, and
Lydia Kraker in 31st. They finished in 7th on the day as a team. Lola and Natalie both did a good job of pacing as they were each able to move up multiple places on their final lap. Lydia's result was a great bounce back from Friday's race.
The Nordic team skied very well on home snow, and now look to keep that momentum rolling as they head to Hanover, NH for the Dartmouth carnival next weekend on January 30th and 31st.Â
