Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Mules Lose to Williams on the Road

Williamstown, Mass. - The Colby College Men's Ice Hockey team faced the Ephs of Williams College on Friday evening for their second matchup of the season. As Colby fell behind in the first period, they fought hard to take their second win over Williams this season, but the Ephs pushed ahead in a high-scoring second period, winning 4-2. The Mules now stand 8-6-2 overall and 4-5-1 in the NESCAC.

In the first, Williams scored the first goal of the game, taking a 1-0 lead with less than one minute left to play in the period. The Mules fought back in the second period, as senior Dan Juzych scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Will Soloway and Wyatt Schmidek at 3:33. Despite Colby tying the game, the Ephs bounced back right away, scoring two goals within two minutes, regaining their lead 3-1. As the Mules went down on the kill for their fourth time in the game, Schmidek scored his first goal of the season off a pass from Ben Morgan, the team's first short-handed goal of the season.

While Colby entered the third period down 3-2, Williams didn't give up, scoring a second power play goal against the Mules just five minutes into the period. While the Mules fought until the end as they pulled their goalie for the man-up advantage in the last two minutes, it wasn't enough against the Ephs defense, and Williams finished with a 4-2 win. Sophomore Cooper Rautenstrauch made 44 saves in the game for the Mules.

The Mules play at Middlebury on Saturday at 3pm.
