Springfield, Mass. - To open up 2026 on day two of the Springfield Naismith New Years Tournament, the Colby Men's Basketball team triumphed over the Red Dragons 79-68. The win brings the Mules to 9-1 on the season as Oneonta drops to 3-5.
Just like the day before Colby never trailed by using a 38–27 first-half cushion to control the tempo before fending off several second-half pushes from the Red Dragons. Colby's bench erupted for 40 points, including a game-high 22 from
Sam Hinman. Hinman was electric, knocking down four threes and going 6-of-7 at the line.
Savion Stroud continued his all-around play with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals, while
Mitch Humphrey added nine points and six boards.
Colby also dominated the glass 46–30, converting that into 16 second-chance points while going 25-for-33 in free throw attempts. The Mules led wire-to-wire for the second straight day, closing out the New Year's holiday with back-to-back wins.
Dan Civello, the tournament MVP, and Hinman were both named to the All-Tournament team for their performances in the two games.
Colby Men's Basketball will return to Maine but remain on the road Sunday January 4th taking on Bates College at 1:00pm in Lewiston.
